Is it just me or does the 1.6GB Crysis demo size scare the bejeezus out of you too! :D

It's a pretty meaty demo by all accounts, so a large size is expected. Don't know if it helps, but it's available locally via SGS's FileVault.

Crysis is PRETTY!!
1280x1024
Very High (Post Process and Shadow = Low)
AA: 0 (2900xt :P)
AF: 16x
FPS: 20fps
E6850, 2900xt, 3gb 1066 5-5-5-12, RAID 0
If I put it on High detail instead of very high, I can get better frames, the problem however is that it looks too pretty to do that :(

nice, so is it really playable at 20fps... and you are running it on DX10?
hmmm maybe I should d/l the demo.

Yeah, I'm using DX10 and it is playable on 20fps, the sweet spot will be 30 though.
DX9 users will get better performance then a DX10 user, go figure :P
DX9 users get better performance because Vista is a steaming pile of...
also, you can get pretty much the exact same detail level using only DX9, so Vista is pointless (for Crysis)
I'm on vista because I'm forced into it :(, My MBoard + RAID 0 goes bsod when xp tries to install.

Zyron how many hard drives do you have? Get an extra hdd and disable raid to install Xp.
Be like me and duel bots :P erm I mean Dual Boot that shit!!!
Yeah I read the only difference between crysis on xp and vista is that on xp they disabled the very high detail option, but someone already cracked it so you will be able to get very high detail on xp. Not much difference btw Dx10 and DX9.
I think maybe in the next generation of GFX cards we will be able to see big differences...
Have you seen the HD3800 series is launching this month. But 1 think which sucks is they are not 512bit so the HD2900 has way more bandwidth then those cards, but the pricing of the cards are good. But I will wait for 2009 :)
3 drives
2x 80gb (RAID 0)
Then a 320gb which is on 20% life, it will soon be replaced by a 500gb and %@#%ing hdd cooler! This is my 2nd 320gb to die because of heat.
Yeah I read about the HD3800, I'm very happy with my HD2900XT, I'll just wait around till my pc becomes old and vrot, then I'll go for the Intel Skull Trail (google it ;)
1.6Gb is an almost average size for a demo these days.
heck the UT3 demo uncompressed to around +- 1.5 Gb (could have been more - cant really remember)
