I finished it this past weekend. Absolutely fantastic game! I wonder how long the wait for Episode 3 will be. :(

How lond did it take you to finish. I gave it a good 30 mins of gaming so far and I am loving every single second. And it doesn't finish at episode 2... I will have to get a credit card to purchase that from steam, or how does 1 go about purchasing games threw steam?

Episode 1 was really short it took me about 3 hours to finish, I hope episode 2 is at least 4 hours +

Zyron did you get Half-life 2 episode 2 with your HD2900xt card or what games did you get?

It took me just over 7 hours to finish, but I'm a slow player. I usually spend lots of time exploring and admiring the details. Episode 2 is longer than Episode 1, but not by much.

Yes, credit card works best for Steam purchases. They support quite a large variety (Visa, Mastercard, etc) and even offer a PayPal option. If you don't mind the large downloads it's definately the way to go - you get titles much closer to their American release dates.

Thx for the info Xan.

I am the type of player who likes to sprint all over the place and use the shotgun at point blank range :D ... But yes the scenerie in hl2.2 is amazing. The white forest is beautiful... I can't wait to see more

I have feared getting a credit card. Have too cap the credit card at as low as possible just now I spend it on other things that I don't need.

I assume the cost of the games are quite good. And is south africa a part of penpal. I hope us namibians can buy threw penpal.

cYan1D3 -

I'm really concerned on how you knew I would read this thread :P

I got the black box coupon. Half Life Ep2 + Portal + Team Fortress 2, haven't used it yet though, as the Half Life I have is a backup copy. Seriously! ;)
I very recently finished Half Life Ep1 (Monday) in 3h 30mins, it was nothing special in my opinion.

Orange box innit Jay? O well whateva.
I am keen as can be to play this. And yes i am one of those who has finished all the single players campaigns on all levels in all previous Hl's..
Episode 2 was great fun, but o so short. Felt like i took my time but still did it in like around 2 hours.
I am to poor to buy it thou :/, considering the need for UT3 and QWET and upgrading.

It's pretty much the dollar price times the exchange rate (there could be a small additional foreign currency transaction fee), which can work out slightly cheaper than local options, depending on where you buy and what shipping options you choose.

I think it's possible to open a SA PayPal account, but I'm not entirely sure. A while ago PayPal refused to accept SA credit cards because of the high prevalence of fraud over here.

Either way you'll need a credit card.

You have just destroyed the value of all your future opinions. :)

Zyron I just knew that you will check this thread out. I also got the black box or orange box with my GFX card. And you just lost some points dissing HL2.1 :( I found it fun but just short.

But it sucks that they broke it down into episodes. Where are those days where a game took a decent 24 hours to finish...

What do you think of Portal, is it worth the download?

Thx for the info Xan. I will rather wait for the games to come out at a local store. But it is fucken awesome having a game and finishing it before anyone in the country heard of it. Namibians are so noob....

From what I've read Portal is also excellent. Some even consider it better than Episode 2! I've yet to try it myself though. :(

Cool, i did not know that. As soon as I leave for the weekend I will start the download. So by the time I get home hopefully it will be done. It took me about 3 full days to download episode 2 with my *cough* 512 dsl line

Zyron have you played portal?

I have and its fucking amazing!

I would highly recommend getting it, you can finish it relatively quickly (within a day or so, didn't bother to check how many hours :P) but the experience is fantastic.

You have to warp and twist your mind to solve some of the puzzles, which is great :) The ending is really funny, shows what developers can do when they have 6 months before release and the game is already finished ;)

I certainly hope that players create new puzzles to go with it, that would be heaven.

Portal is cool, but I just played the first level. And I was not expecting it to be like that. I haven't continued playing. I didn't even finish half life 2 episode 2.....

How far have you gotten with crysis? I still have to install in on vista to see how it looks like, but on DX9 it looks already so awesome and there is no lag what so ever...

You mean you put the cube on the button and then gave up?

I ran threw the first level, I didn't come to the part where you get the portal gun :(

I just don't have time playing games not involving killing... :P

I didn't like it to be honest. And besides that it was so easy in the beginning, but it usually is I guess. Once I finish all the games I want to play I will take another go at it.

It's a awesomely fun game, very short though. about 6 hours for me.

Crysis I've finished on Delta difficulty, anything but that totally detracts from the game imo. I even had some funny moments watching Shrimp play the game yesterday....like ramping off a cliff, or slaming into a building then climbing out only to be squished by the falling car...LOL

Hey, that was only my first time online :P.

The physics are pretty randomly whacked in multiplayer it seems. Jumping out of a moving car seems to cause instant death.

At one point I was driving down a road and BOTH rear tyres popped for absolutely no reason, nearly flipping the truck over forwards. At another point I was driving along at high speed and one of the rear tyres popped, causing my jeep to roll, so I ended up walking for ages to get back to somewhere with action.

Also, dunno if it's just the game or if SGS's server is seriously laggy, but I couldn't shoot anything :(. I can only imagine the lag is causing the vehicle's wheels to intersect with the ground, prompting the tyres to burst .

Suppose I'll be mostly sticking to single player :).
