Hey guys

So I got a spare machine:

specs:
Intel Prescott 2.8 GHz HT
1.5 GB ram @ 400MHZ
Sapphire X850XT P.E 256MB
if you need any other info let me know.

I want to start my own Namibian server, I have an Uncapped connection atm 512 dsl, I will be able to run the server 24/7 if I need to. I have a few friends in Namibia which are keen to play, but they don't have my patients to play with 100 ping.

So far i tried almost everything. I got my port forwarding correct and have an DNS account online and checked my online ip address at www.whatismyip.com

And it didn't work.

So if any1 can give me steps or info where I can get this info I would appreciate it a lot...

And maybe you guys can join my server, and hopefully the ping will be lower.

When I host warcraft3 people get like 19 ping when they join me and don't complain about delay, so I hope for UT it will be the same, then I can have a fair game for once

Sure your router or firewall aren't blocking the ports for UT.

Default 7777 and 7778 I think. There are some others too. Do a Google for UT2004 server setup.

Ye man I am sure the ports are not blocked.

I see there are UDP ports which are 7777/ 7778/ 7787 i think a few more
and 1 TCP port which is 42248 or something like that. I made sure all of them are allowed on my router.

The listening port is default set to 80, should I change that.

I am reading online how to do it but they alone show how to set up a dedicated server so I can only host a dedicated server online or will I be able to host a normal game and you guys would be able to join.

This is so annoying , I tried for 2 hours yesterday and failed. So I fail in UT :(

cYan1D3, how are you currently testing this? Do you have someone who can try connect to it from the outside?

I have a laptop and 3G so I use that to see if I can connect to my server. I can connect with my 3G Laptop to SGS but not to my server.

I use my adsl line to host the game.

The listening port is defualt 80 should I change this to 7777 or something else. I didn't have time to try a few things yesterday which I read online. Will try again tonight :/
