Hey all!

I recently started smoking again...

I smoked for about 6 years and then quit for 2 years... now with all the shit at work I just felt like a smoke the other evening and now I'm back on the Tobacco train again... :o

So I was wondering if you fellas have also quit and started again, etc... would be interesting to see how many ex-smokers have started again...

Anyhow, cheers!

That would make an interesting poll ;)
I seriously recommend you to buy yourself a shisha, more nicotine, less tar and I don't think you can get as addicted to it as cigarettes.
I smoke it aprroximately 3-4 times per week since +-5 years and don't mind if I can't have one for 3 weeks or longer.
What prevents you from getting too addicted imo is the hassle of cleaning and setting up etc.

Get another job and leave the smokes. Lung cancer is such an appealing way to die.

Started smoking when I was in STD 7. Quit smoking in 1991 (I was 21 then). 16 years later I have still not taken up smoking again, and GOD willing never will. If I can do it, anyone can. Side effects of quitting smoking, I got really fat.

ROFL! Thing is I know I can quit again... but I'm enjoying it quite allot... ;)

I think as soon as I start feeling crap or my sinus returns I will give it a break or quit again... but for now I'm enjoying my ciggies! ;)

Thanks for the input fellas! ;)

You are paying a monthly deposit of R100+ p.m into an long term lung cancer account. Only the Darwin awards are more retarded than that, barely...

You stink, you crave, you get yellow teeth, you get sinuses, you cough, and you taste like an ashtray to your girlfriend. No seriously, very clever!

lol Gamos, you seem to have fairly strong opinions on this :D

Have to say, though, I concur 100%. German_Weasel smokes and we've had this discussion countless times.

I don't get it. I just don't get it.

I nominate Gamos for the position of Minister of Health.

With an attitude like that, we're likely to get it banned completely, VERY fast :D:D:D.

Did you buy another pack when you started smoking again Warhead?

I've smoked many times, but I've never bought cigarettes for myself. I don't like them actually.

I have a cuban about once a month though.

LOL... okay... I guess you guys are right... but I'm enjoying it man...

@ Igloo>I'm halfway through my 2nd pack... :/

@ Gamos>One main reason I started again is the fact that my girlfriend smokes and so does her whole family, as well as all my mates at work, it's hard to be around them the whole time... so I dunno...

I'm already pretty heavy, fat is such an ugly word, so if I stop smoking, would I loose weight? :)

yes..you will loose weight in the first few weeks of stopping the smoking habit..wanna know why..it'll be all them active barfights you will be joining. since your stress level will be high in the times of quiting..but after that you will be thin (for awhile) and dont crave a smoke anymore :P

LOL. :D I have no idea if you would loose weight. After one month of quitting, I started to gain weight. Look the fact that I was/am not an active person, is a contributing factor. However when I did smoke I was very slim. :D Man I used to love to smoke. Used to chain smoke.

Thats cause subconsciously you replaced a ciggy in your mouth with food. It's a lie if people think smoking makes you thin or quitting smoking makes you gain weight. It's all about what you replace it with.

gamos wins this thread

I can not *believe* that people enjoy smoking ... I really can't

it tastes vile, it fucks up your health and other non smokers' as well (for shame)

I honestly think people lie to themselves when they say "I enjoy a siggie"

gamos for Minister of Health seconded

Of course the guys who don`t smoke can`t believe that people enjoy smoking.

I can`t believe that people enjoy sucking dick for cocaine/heroine/crack...

The point is nicotine is addictive and people like to feel good. Yes the cost is your health in the long term and that you smell like a braai every day of the week, but people like to feel good.

I don`t smoke but I`m sure if I was addicted, I would find reasons to smoke.

I say let him be, he knows the risks.
We all have our vices. ;)

P.S I`m not saying smoking is as addictive as some of the heavy drugs mentioned above, it was just a hyperbole to get your attention :P

BS. Smoking is an appetite suppressant. There is nothing subconcious about that. If you are fat you should loose weight, cause you will not have an appetite. However, smoking destroys vital nutrients the body needs, thus damaging your health.

In my post I said when I was smoking, I was not fat. I said after I quit, I started putting on weight. That's cause my body was getting all the stuff it now needed and was hanging on to it. The trick was that I was supposed to be active (eg. gyming, running, playing a sport). I am quiet sure in my case, my eating habits did not change by a huge magin.

There is nothing subconcious about it at all. As much as I loved smoking, I will never go back to it, cause of the harm it did/will do , to me. I also do not get sick as often as I used to.

Hey, I am not saying don't smoke, by all means go ahead. I just find the idea of doing this (http://www.smokehelp.org/assets/images/Smokers_Lungs.jpg) to yourself after making a clean break before, as smart as eating thumb tacks.
