ONS Ladder 2 Rankings -- 05/05/2005

I'll be leaving everyone in for future updates - you have to check for yourself if you've played the requisite 10 matches. If your name is not in the screenshot you haven't played in a valid match yet (that I know of).

I'm not going to post match screenshots this time around - it's just too much hassle.

Finally, please note that KD-adjusted rankings are shown, so comparisons with Ladder 1 rankings won't be valid. Unadjusted rankings are available, but I won't be showing them unless we decide to drop the KD-adjustment.

Simply go and read the rules and then whenever u see a ons match going, join it and do ur best to score and not die too much

i must say i'm kinda feeling sad cause i'm not the bottom feeder and that only after 4 matches

i Also c that i got to more or less the same position as the first ladder wich is great for me, cause i hav'nt played nearly as much matches as i did with the 56k for this ladder's ranking

I do have a question,

how do you handle cases where a player join halfway through a match?

This obviously has a material impact on the results.

Unfortunately the timers in UT does not seem to acurately reflect the times, so it is impossible to prorate the score relating to time.

I understand that it is a hassle to post the screenies, but do your think it would make it easier for people to see how the score was arrived at, especially in the light of the above comment?

I don't think joining mid-game is really a problem, since it happens to EVERYONE, so it will affect everyone's rankings to a more-or-less equal extent I should think.

You could always join as a spectator, wait for a new round, and join then. :P

Late joins are handled as follows:

If you join within 30 seconds of the start of a MATCH (not round!) and stay until it is finished, the match will count towards your ranking.

If you join any later, or leave early, the match will not count towards your rankings.

Prorata adjustments for time seem perfectly feasible until you have a look at people who are only in the game for a few seconds. Adjusting their scores based on their time will result in them getting abnormally high rankings for that match (especially if it was a long one).

At the moment the qualifying period stretches from 01/05/2005 to 31/05/2005. Note that the end date may be extended if such a need arises.

There was this one guy, that came in, took ALL our vehicles and preeserved them like pickels @ our core....... The whole time we had to run our asses off getting somewhere......

Just before the end, he became a spectator.... you can clearly see him on the screenshot there.......

Apparently you can Avril at the SPMA's view finder goody (that floats in the sky), and if the Avril gets line of sight on the actual vehicle it will re-home onto it :)

Different node layouts would be great as well! I saw ArcticStronghold (or whatever it is) - where the links go from base to both outer nodes, and then into the central node, then two opponents outer nodes and onto the base.

That should play well different. Is it possible to get those different layouts on the ONS server somehow?

wrt the different node setups, IIRC the new node setup has to be changed on the map found on the server (or changed on a different map & uploaded to the server). perhaps pp/fatty can test this out on their server?
