Prophecy have their DSPs up on the site. Must say, I expected it to be more expensive.

Just remember that those are DSPs Gamos, in other words, once it's installed on one PC, you can NOT move it to another PC.
Yeah I know. I don't generally do that. I am just curious on hardware upgrades.
Why can you never buy a full retail Windows OS? You either have to get DSPs through dodgy means (since they're only supposed to be sold with a new PC), buy a shitty upgrade, or buy a new PC.
Shrimp, my question to that would be, do you really want to pay R3k instead of 1K for a shiny box?
PH also got it straight from MS, that they are allowed to sell DSP, permitted they don't open the package.
Sorta system sellers version. Think OEM. No flashy boxes or anything, just a key and CD, there ya go.
Gotcha, what's are the prices when converted to rands for Vista, from basic to Ultimate editions?

So what version are you all getting? I'm think the home premium has all I need, but then I see this:
Home Premium vs. Ultimate
No advanced complete system backup tool
Small business apps, such as Fax and Scan
No Ultimate "extras", which could include games and special utilities
No BitLocker hard drive encryption software
No automatic "Shadow" copies of your documents
No Remote Desktop
No advanced group policy editor
Inability to run UNIX-based applications (through SUA)
No support for dual CPU's (2 physical processors) or 128GB of memoryThat last point there could be an issue later on, but I hear you can just pay for an upgrade to ultimate then as it's all on the same dvd.
Anyone know what the comparable prices of these 2 will be? ...DSP of course.
Home Premium for me.
How would 2 physical processors or 128Gb of Ram become a problem? If anything, cpus are moving to to multi-core, not multi physical processors, and I can guarentee you, you won't see 128 GIGABYTES of ram before the next-next windows.
The rest I just don't need.

Hehe, yeah, not the 128GB of Ram ...the dual CPU's was my issue. But if you say multi-core is the way they going (I'm really out of the loop), then Home Premium for me too thanks.
PS. Been checking the prices in dollars, and Home Premium is really rather alot cheaper.
I see prophecy have the full retail on the site now too.
Yeah, we will see 4 core and 8 core CPUs long before we move back to 2 physical processors IMO.

ok only the x64 version of vista supporst 128GiG of ram and the x86 supports a max of 4GiG.
home basic only supports 1 cpu where as home pre supports 2.
just needed to clear that up before there would be a mass confusion :)
but TBO i like vista in some sence of a way, my UT runs better on vista than it did on XP.
