View Full Version : Aim Improvement (Naught help!)
Actually anybody help! i read through the "help" guides.
Is there any other way to improve your aim other than to keep
adjusting your sensitivity levels for each game type ? i really got to do
something about this...my aim is on some days.....and really off other days.
HELP ANYONE ?

Well, I think if your aim is on one day and off the next, itmeans you at least HAVE the ability to aim well.
Perhaps the only way to get your aim more consistent is to practice and play more. There is (at least none I have found) no quick fix to improving your game. Settings can help to an extent, but it just comes down to practicing alot, so the movements and gameplay become second nature.
I am also finding my game very erratic, as I only play an hour or so a week. Back in the day when I used to play most nights, my game was alot more consistent.
The way I improved my aim the most was by doing 3 things :
1. I got a decent mouse. I went from some kuk-hole a-tech4 to a dual eye, to an mx500 and then (currently) a Diamondback. the Diamondback made a HUGE difference to my game (not only DPI, also shape for my hand).
2. I got a decent mouse pad. I used to use a propad, very good mousepad. But a while back I bought a Mantis Control, and after the initial month to get used to it, it has also helped me be alot more consistent.
3. I dropped my sens quite a bit down. This helped me aim ALOT, I did it ages ago, in UT2K3 allready, but that probably made the most dramatic change to my game.
Other things I am sure ppl will suggest is cross-hairs. X-hairs can make a huge diff especially with hit scan weapons. Also, maybe try different colour x-hairs and player models.
Just reading your post above, you mention changing sens for each gametype? I am not 100% sure what you mean, but if I am reading it correctly, that woud do more harm than good. You would be more consistent if you kept your sens the same all the time, so your hand / eyes can get used to the movement.
Anyhoo, thats all I got, maybe some 'pro's' can lend some more advice :)
ps, It may be worthwhile giving more info, like mouse, drivers, mousepad, x-hairs u play with, player models, colour, etc, so we can see if there is nothing obbvious that could be wrong :)

Odd thing with my Razer I've found my self slowly increasing my sensitivity, but I used to be a *seriously* low sense player, two full propad sweeps to turn around kind of thing. The mouse gives brilliant control when you move it carefully, so I don't need the low sense anymore to make up for inaccuracy of the mouse.
In general though, accuracy is practice. After a while you just don't even think about it. On those days when you're off just leave it, go have popcorn and a dvd rather.
The other thing is some players are good at dodging, it's quite easy to time a guys recoil so holding fire isn't always the best idea. Last night for example, even though you were aiming reasonably well I still had map control over you. The game isn't just about accuracy, in fact that's quite a small component of playing a good game.
fair enough...errmmm mebbe one "obvious" thing i should really get is a decent mouse pad, but would that make such a difference?

what u using now cirius?
Yes, a decent mouse pad makes a huge difference (specially if you a low sens player and using a small pad, i need my huge pad as i play low sens, and it allows me to track some1 without having to lift my mouse)
Strange, but the less i play, the better i aim
If u try too hard and push yourself, you forget about having fun and that just compounds your frustration. Take some time off...always works for me.
Or if that fails, un-install that aimbot dude - that'll surely help your aim ten fold :P :P

Listen to Sam, he knows what's best. :D
But seriously, I have to agree, I was aiming like a tard then couldn't play for about 5 days, came back and I had aim again. Aim is something you can't force, the harder you try the worse it gets.
I'm currently working on Draven 2.1. Will let you know once it's in beta.
Change your xhair colour. Just try it :)

to what colour G?
I must say, I tried differentcolour skins last night (green) and it made a slight difference to my aim. I normally play pink (green and red all the way up).
Only problem with green is on some levels, it is harder to see, if there is foliage, or green goo (like deck17).

I use a dot for both my LG and SR, Green for Shock, Yellow for LG! :D
To anything but your normal Haj. You get so damn used to the colours that you forget about that xhair. Changing colour have you focus on it for a while again. In my limited experience. :)

Disable all foliage, it's a total hindrance, and distracts you from the game :D
Just for a laff...my current mouse pad is table cloth over my desk :)....the mouse i'm currently using is a mx510.

get a Mouse pad cirius. If you do nt want to spend R200 odd on a mantis, get a propad for about R100.

What I find works best for me is shooting the other little men in the head. Take care though as this does not work as well with all weapons. hmmm. :|
I just got my Habu! Awesome mouse once you get through all the Firmware and Driver updates.

My desk doesn't have enough space for all these 1337zor mouse pads. I use an el cheapo freebie I got from goodness knows where. However, if I did buy a mouse pad, it would definitely be the Mantis. I've played no them a bit and I notice a marked difference to general controllability of the mouse.

Ever wondered why you have never heard a pro go "NO MOUSE PAD FTW" ? :P
They make a huge difference, for consistency and accuracy, try one, you would be surprised :)
I think i might do that, thanks :)

Hmmzor...
I might do this, I have a cheapie mouse. I don` t think it will help my aim as it is already sufficient for my needs. I just want a cool looking light...
I could always super glue some leds on my cheapie. Now there is an idea :P

Hehe i played with mine set to green but i kept on getting confused with a dead body when it dissapears and a living oke :( i've tried various colours and with most of the ones that ive tried there seems to always be one thing somewhere which confuses me, atm i am using yellow which doesn't seem to give me that issue (so far)

Gamos ino offense but i disagree with this, focusing on my crossshair makes a person focus on the crosshair and not the entire screen as a whole and thus miss little things such a a guy flying past, i beleive you should know where your x-hair is instinctively and not need to concentrate so hard on it and rather getting your oppenent in the middle of your screen where your x-hair is.

The coolest stuff is always sold over the internet. Especially here in SA where we have to rely on direct imports for most of the best equipment. :D
Prophecy has lots of really great stuff and I can vouch for them. I have used them consistently in the last year or so and experienced great service from them all the time. I can also tell you that prophecy is run by the people with the utmost integrity. I wouldn't recommend them if I didn't think it were true. :)

Well, if you order for over a thousand rand they'll do free delivery otherwize it's like R50-00 via Berco or something, you can also arrange your own couriers.
The service at Prophecy is top notch!
Anyone use the Razer eXactMat? How are they?

Yeah, they will take care of everything for you. You just EFT the money into their account and in a week or so the stuff will arrive on your doorstep. No hassles. If there are any problems they normally sort it out for you in no time.

could be a plan, ill have bucks then but i need it now.....
shot ill get back to you ;)
Guys I just found the most amazing thing:
When you shoot whilst moving up or down a ramp, the shot actually lags the crosshair by about 15mm on the screen.
Try it, move up a ramp, and shoot a rocket. Watch where the rocket actually fires from...
I couldn`t understand why my combos were missing when I was on a ramp, when I know I clicked on the ball.
The way to remedy it that I have found, launch the ball going one way on the ramp and move the other way when click to detonate it. Works like a charm ;)
