So, today I broke my OC virginity. I didn't really know much about it, but I decided to jump in and try it out. This is my setup (well, it's for my bro for Christmas) and this is what I did to it:

Core 2 Duo 6400 (stock 2.13GHz)
2x512MB DDR 533 4-4-4-11
256MB 7600 GT
Mobo: Biostar TForce 965P

Well, I cranked the FSB up to 310 MHz (which puts the CPU at about 2.5GHz) no problem. The voltage, eveything else simply adjusted automatically. Anyway, I managed to drop my Super Pi score down from 26 seconds to 22 seconds.

So... does anyone know of a software-based method to adjust the multiplier, because I can't find any such thing in my BIOS and apparently this is supposed to be a major board for overclocking.

Well, overclocking with software just isn't a cool idea. Check all the settings properly in your BIOS, you'll find the multi there ;)

Yeah, I've checked but I am pretty sure there is nothing there. Gonna try a BIOS update and then maybe it'll appear.

(Oh, and I got my super PI down to just above 20 seconds last night.)

I see that other people with a similar setup to me have pushed these chips over 3.0GHz. If I can't get it there I am going to be asking yo ufor lots of advice DAE... :P

Oh, and something else... how do I OC my graphics card and is it a good idea?

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I am cooling with a Zalman 9700.

Jaymac, also try and press alt+f1 (or ctrl+f1) when you in your bios. On my gigabyte nforce2 it opens up more options in the bios :)

Jaymac, if you wanna overclock your graphics card, just download the "coolbits" registry key, it's only a few KB, and then once you've installed that, go to your nVidia driver and you'll see an option there, Overclocking. Then you SLOWLY up the frequency, only a few Mhz at a time, then you run a tough benchmark, like 3DMark05 or 06, and see if you see any artifacts :)

Let me know if i can help anymore :)

Thanks DAE! You've been a great help. I am currently away, using GPRS to connect because they don't even have 3G where I am, but as soon as I am back I am sure I will have a long list of questions.

But for now, what do you mean by artifacts?
