Heya,

I am putting a PC together for a friend, with a budget of R5500. He will use it mainly for work, but will eventually want to upgrade to play games. The following system is what I have put together within the budget, and left it open for upgrades (more ram and space for a graphics card).

However, I have never put together an Intel setup, so i was wondering if someone could loo at it and point out any obvious mistake I have made. He allready has speakers btw :)

Thanks in advance

All that for R5500?

Fuck - nice price - all he needs is a decent gfx card, and he'll be able to play any game and prolly run UT07 in WTFMODE :)

Wow, that's a great price for all that!

A word of caution though, there is a remarkable difference between a 6300 and a 6400 which should be taken into account. However, given this good price you could probably stick with the 6300 becuase it's still a great chip.

However, although Gigabyte boards are great, the chipset on that board is not. I strongly, strongly recommendt you think seriously about getting this Biostart board instead: http://www.prophecy.co.za/biostar-tforce-965pt-socket-motherboard-p-2551.html

It is their first offering of a high end product so they are coming in at a GREAT price and I can tell you they run really well. Don't think that just becuase the price is low it's not a good board. Here is a review of the chipset and the Biostar board from Tom's Hardware. http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/11/13/shootout_at_the_core_2_corral/

OK, I wouldn't buy the Core 2 Duo but a AMD Athlon64 3600+ X2. The Intel is better but you can save about R500-R600 bucks. Then I would buy Hynix RAM. You can again save About R300 bucks there. In total that is a save of about R900 only on CPU&RAM
