GM 1 v 1 Tourney Update

Hi All,

So using the 15 Entrants - I calculated the time schedule for all players based on 1 server for next week saturaday (I will update this to the 3 Servers we will be using) but here is a rough draft worse case scenario if we can only use 1 server. This is in the attached excel file which is zipped.

Guys - its pretty simple - Duel 1 map - winner gets a point - looser doesn't. game time - 15min - + 5 min for warmup and arrival of each player. Please be punctual.

Game rules will be the standard setup up of UTComp DUEL.

Also - an attached poll... have fun :)

If anymore wish to still join this tourney - I will still allow them to join by thursday.

You will need to join to register on the GM site to view final setup game times - which I will drop instructions for on tue or wed.

It has more than 2 spawn points, unlike compressed which totally sux for duels.

Rather lets get a confirmation list going. If they dont read this thread they probably forgot about the tourney in any case.

As it stands i gotta play for 2hrs straight....dont think i can do that. So with fewer people maybe we can be better organised and this will take up less time.

Is it safe to assume this tourney is not gonna happen? We are two days away and we have a confirmed total of 3 names.

So, out of 16 players - 3 can't make it, another 3 will potentially not play, 5 haven't said a thing, and only 3 confirmed.

If I can make a suggestion, rather stretch this thing over 2 weeks following strict times/dates, with reschedules having to happen within a day or two. Something like that might get more players to sign up too.

On my part I have tp apologise for my unprofessionalism in having everything confirmed by tues.

One of our clients made a massive move - and since monday, its been work till 3am daily.

If we can try have all confirmations up by fri night - I will happily have everything posted by then - times - etc...

If this saturday is not good for some we can reschedule.

DJ and Jaymac, what is the point? The less players, the less of a "tourney" it is. How many people will read this post before tonight? We will have many forfeits tomorrow, wasting the time of the participants, not to mention chasing other players off the duel servers etc. This tourney really needs to be rescheduled, over a longer period than just one day, and admin'ed to to a point where a disaster doesn't seem likely (like, I am sorry to say, tomorrow seems to be like).

Gamos - meant to post all last night but my ADSL went down.

Given the few confirmations - 4 players - this tourney cannot launch today.

Gamos - i am going to go with your suggestion and relook at scheduling games to take over two weeks.

Those still wanting to be in this tourney - please... confirm yoour name. We cannot run it by assumption.

Reschedule will start on the 13 August - please confirm by the 9 Aug.

Games will work something like 3 duels per night... and most likely a few more on the weekends.

New players may join till wed - bur this round we are not waiting till the last moment to see who confirms. If we don't have at minimum 10 confirmed players by wed - I don't think this mini tourney makes sense.

If I can make a suggestions DJ. Have the schedule once again drawn up (heck start a new thread for this "new" tourney) and have 3-4 duels per night. If you can't make it, you must reschedule a day or 2 max, later. If you can't make it then, you forfeit this match.

You basically want to have it accessible to the majority of the community, but not have it drag out for weeks and weeks again.

So, strict schedule, strict rules about rescheduling, but drawn over 2 weeks instead of a day (or months like the clan tourney previously).

Ok all,

Firstly - I do apologise for my poor admin on this the passed week - it was my fault as I had dived into serious work and had to neglect this.

However - since not many confirmed for today - and because we can see its hardly possible to run a 1 v 1 over one day... I've come up with the solutions - which would allow more people to compete...

having that said,

I've done a new calculation for this tourney so that we can confirm, see attached pic - but read first to understand.

1. Firstly the attached picture is calculated on 16 Players. So having that in mind - with the newly caluclated schedule this tourney will take place over 4 weeks. Ofcourse if there are more than 16 players it may take more than 4 weeks.
2. The calculation is based on 2 Hours per night at 20min time for the 15min duel for tourney games on both Duel Servers

Here is how it will work over and above the original rules - as Gamos and I discussed it and found the least admin type solution.

1. as you can see from the attached pic - each pair of players will have a scheduled time. Now - all games fixed for their time do not need to take place at that exact time - the schedule is the recommended guide line. so... if you can't make your game at 8pm on a monday night... you can reschedule it. However - reschedule games may not be schedule later than the sunday in the same week.
2. All games scheduled within the Monday to thurs period may be rescheduled - however - any results not handed in on the morning of the monday following the weeks games - both players in the duel will have forfeited the game and score 0 points.
3. If one of the two players kept pitching and the other not - a total of 1 point will be given to the player arriving and 0 points to the player who doesn't. Both players will be asked for their "stories" when this claim is made - and I will make the final dicision.
4. Duel Server SGS 1 and SGS 2 may be used for these games. If a password is required for uninteruption - I am sure Haja, or one of the admins can assist me with setting that up to. Password protection will be set on those days between 8-10pm if this will make it easier for those wanting to keep to the schedule.
5. Post screenies on the GM site.
6. You can play any of your duels in advance - you do not have to wait for your scheduled time - even if your duel is in four weeks time you can play it today - but I will only look at results every monday.

The GM sites calendar will have all matches loaded and on the GM forum on the GM site a simple excel sheet will be available etc... in the GM 1 v 1 Forums on the GM site.

So guys in a nutshel:

Talk to your oponent about the scheduled time - if its suites you - get the password for that day - and play your match at the scheduled time. If not - make sure you reschedule by the Sunday and post the restults on the GM forums on the GM site by the monday.

Guys - Monday is it - if I don't get a screenie or a mail saying that you pitched and the other didn't - you get 0 points for that match.

If i Pm you on the monday about someone elses claim that you didn't pitch and you haven't answered by tues morning (or within 24 hours of when I send you a pm) you will get 0 and your opponent will get 1 point.

Winners get 1 point.

Any ties - will run through a serparate mini tourney at the end of the tourney, to attain their correct positions.


There for - this tourney will start on monday the 14 August 8am.
