View Full Version : Uncapped ADSL
yo ppl, im thinking about gettin an uncapped 512k account, hate restrictions, can anyone of u who's got uncapped, point me into the right direction, of which is best, i only wanna use it for downloads (p2p) and a lil bit of gaming (kief ping), who do u guys recommend?
I have experience with IS uncapped and I wont reccomend them.
Ye lets face it. Its nice to download an entire series rather than 2 episodes per month.
Try a look at DataPro.

Datapro also uses the IS backbone for their uncapped adsl, if you wan't uncapped get ISDN or 56k :P.

Jesus, thats hilarious.
Anyway, IS, Verizon or Imaginet are the only people that really supply uncapped. The IS stuff works perfectly fine, as it should since it's about R2000/m along with the others.
I dont reccomend IS, period.
UUNET has a pure fiber DSL infrastructure (low latency international pings) except for the obvious but they wont sell direct unless your a bussines client. These guys are the only UUNET resellers I know of but im sure there must be more http://www.alesco.co.za/ They do have an uncapped option but I have no ideea of the price and it will vary with line speed.

Have you used IS?

Firstly, there is no such thing as UUNET, it's Verizon. Secondly... uhm... who the hell doesn't have a fibre infrastructure? Unless you're talking about international via satelite.
There is a difference there between IS uncapped and IS Business Uncapped.
ive got a friend who works for verizon, he said he'll see what he can do for me :( *hold thumbs*

... The IS stuff works perfectly fine....
Their performance was horrible during office hours, they blamed the peering link with Saix. Have they resolved this yet?
So here's this giant enemy crab...

There is uncapped, and there is business uncapped. The later is what we have at work, which uses an MPLS VRF and its perfectly fine during office hours.

Hi
I have a Internet Solutions 512k ADSL Business @ home and I am quite happy with the service. The peering issues was resolved when 2 additional 155MB links were put in from Rosebank. Don't forget IS is the biggest content provider in SA and SAIX customers where the ones killing the peering link. IS Adressed it first by adding an additional 75MB @ their own expense. When that was not enough and Telkom had to come to the party they refused. Most peering links between service providers are mostly gentleman's agreements. When IS finally said yes they will carry the other cost too they waited 4 months for Telkom to install the lines.... In my opinion what telkom did was nothing short of sabotage. My adsl goes over satellite and my pings are about 650ms to the US. As for dl'ing content In May I did 89GB :)
P.S. You okes thinking it was IS fault is exactly what Telkom was hoping for btw.......
