Now i know that practice makes perfect... but hey - at sometime after playing UT for a long time something must come right.,..

So I have a G15 mouse - and have set my mouse input speed at 0.25... but i still battle to track nicely.... also - someone comes from behind - i can't turn on time

So - how does everyone else do it - input speed - quick turning around when being fired from behind....

I use very low sens, about 180mm for a full turn (better to use that as a measure than input in UT, as windows sens differs).

My sens if low on the scale, I just got a big ass mousepad (Razer Mantis, about 400mm x 350mm) and use most of it to play on. I think you just have to be more energetic when u play on a low sens.

Perhaps try some varying speeds and gauge your tracking. Maybe your sens is too low for your playing style, maybe its too high. I guess you just have to play around by raising and dropping it while playing for periods of time, and see if you notice an improvement.

Just 2 questions :
1../ What mousepad do you have
2../ To turn 360° approx. how many cm do you move your mouse?

Also, you have made sure all acceleration is off in windows and UT?

Gm -

z1 plays with high sensitivty . One formula does not work for all :)

U need to find ure comfort zone - its the point at which u can aim good, but also be effective in close combat.

well - I lowered it to as low as 0.25 - so I land up using more than a mouse pad to turn :S I am thnink of binding a key to when held a low mouse movement is selected and when pressing it again a high mouse movement is selected.

I don't use a mouse pasd - I use the moothness of my desk...

DJ, I seriousl;y doubt that would work. I battle use the mic button and play at the same time in the heat of battle. I really cannot see changing the sens in battle working, but maybe that is just me.

I would suggest lraising your mouse sens to a point where you can use the space available to move around the map properly.

But at the end of the day, low sens players may be slightly more accurate than some high sens players, but our close combat skills always suffer. That is why I dislike close maps, I just cannot react in time to close combat fights :(

I would suggest getting a nice mouse pad too. I have never really used my desk as a 'pad' but I cannot think ppl would spend so much money buying pads and what have you if they did not offer some advantage. If you like smooth, do what gamos did, and goto CTM and get a procelain tile.
G uses that exclusively now, and rates it very highly :) Plus its R25 :P

Haja, what about setting different sens for different weapons. that way if you need to turn to do something quicker - choosing a weapon like flak - where in the ini file changing to the weapon would increase sense?

well, I suppose it is up to the player, but I would find that hard to get used to myself.

The thing is when I play, I get used to the 'flick' distance of my mouse, so if i have varying sensitivitys, the physical movement of the mouse would differ, making it hard to adjust on the fly.

but the proof is in the puddig I guess, so give it a go and see how it works :)
