Heya,
Sorry if this has been asked before, but what keyboard do you guys use?
I want to buy one of those UltraX logitech K/B's. It has the laptop type keys, and seems pretty cool The reviews are good, but I cannot get much feedback from gamers.
So, does anyone have any opinion on them, or perhaps a better alternative?
Thanks in advance,
cya

I just use a generic keyboard - but some of those out there looks pretty sweet
Especially the likes of them z-boards with the fancy keys ... I guess one will just get used to it if it doesn't grant an immediate improvement
not sure that a keyboard can make all that much difference but if it looks great, why not?
Labtec, black, Game at R90. I have 2 - just in case. :p

I'm using a KME Turbo Spero keyboard. Cheap and looks nice. And guess what? Even without the Super MX-220 Hyper Multimedia Extreme Edition 2000 functions, it still works just fine ;)

Yo Hajie! I have been using a Logi Ultra X for the past year and IMO it's an awesome KB for gaming. The laptop keys for me are faster to press.
[N]Haja
24 Jul 2006, 18:06
cool cripple, shot for that. My kb is almost dead, and i am extremely lazy, so a few mm less to press is all good for me :)
Microsoft internet keyboard.
Not made anymore - but one of the best ever.

I use the Z Board the one with the swappable keysets.
Nice to look at but no difference in game play,a normal keyboard would do the same.

I love the multimedia control buttons at the top. Perfect for running winamp in the background while playing a game. Can stop, play and forward while ingame and the palmrest/support thingy works wonders too.

Just a question for all the G15 users here. Do any of you guys use any other 3rd party software to run that LCD?

Karn, my current kb is ps/2. Is USB much better, and what is the major difference?

Epic have an official UT2004 patch version (3372) which supports the G15. It can show your ping and packet loss, scoreboard, current weapons (including ammo counts), and your score and position.
I've been playing a fair amount of Auto Assault recently too, and was pleasently surprised to see that had out-the-box support for the LCD. Shows level, xp stats, etc, mission objectives, picked up items, HP, etc. All rather useful.
There are also a number of extra utilities, like Fraps stats, system monitors (when I'm not playing games, or playing something which doesn't have LCD support, I use a nifty one which shows CPU, RAM and HDD usage, as well as date and time all in one screen), including stuff like support for Motherboard Monitor, there are mail notifiers, and a multitude of useless things like Winamp displays, games (even a playable Pong), weather monitors, etc.
They provide a small SDK, which is really rather simple to use and imlpliment, however they don't support/demonstrate languages aside from C++, which I'm too lazy to learn at the moment. Dunno why they don't just distribute a simple DLL, rather than their littlelib file, but anyway.
Yar, it can do a fair amount.

Cool, just checking, coz my LCD tells me anything i want it to. I have many profiles for it, but the main one tells me CPU and RAM usage, CPU, Motherboard, HDD temperatures, FPS, Volume, etc etc etc.

The difference is I don't have a PS/2 port.
Pitty the G15 looks so damn butt ugly. I guess its for people who like their sister.

Well the USB models don't have issues with key lockup (like if you press more than 3 keys at the same time.)

Epic have an official UT2004 patch version (3372)
erm where can I read more about this patch please? afaik 3369 was the latest and thats also the one I see on the site - or is this patch *only* for the keyboard?
kthx
The one I know about is unoficial although it was written by EPIC you can download it from the Logitech site.
cyghost
27 Jul 2006, 10:29
aha so just logitech patch then - no game issues
thx then
It's official, made by Epic. It's regular 3369 + G15 support. You don't need 3369 if you install 3372, it's just a regular patch.

My cousin bolted one of those to the wall, wired it up, wrote a small program and turned it into a glorified light switch!
Key:
1 - Room 1 light on only
2 - Room 2 light on only
3 - Both rooms lights on
4 - All lights off

Depending which society too. Just remember that in the times when the bible was written, using words like "breast" and "thigh" were also considered swear words.
