Be warned this contains bad languge so I posted it in on the KO site. But I'm sick of the Little ass monkeys.

Dude, set your weapon priority to have the shield higher than the assault rifle. It offers at least some relief, because spawn raping will never end. Pros do it, but worse, noobs do it too. No use to get upset about it.
As example, Pox must have had 7 spawn kills on me this weekend. Lucky for him (and unintentional) but unlucky for me. I did not bitch and get upset, just spawned, upped that shield, grabbed some rockets and carried on playing, getting some kills off him in turn.
Another bit of advice, switch of "show enemy names". That way you won't take it personal or breed a grudge.

In a free for all madness (which I don't particularly like meself) its hard *not* to kill the guy if he spawns rt in front of you - and if you don't someone else will - competitive players do care about results. I'd leave a guy if I actually realise he has just spawned and have no weapon but if he shoots at me with that puny assault rifle he is toast
In a one on one if you are being spawn raped time and again you are simply outclassed completely and only have two options really:
a) leave and find someone of your skill
b) stick it out and try to learn how to avoid it - shield gun for teh win
I played a game last nite where the opponent said I should have taken it easy on him after the game ... and I thought about that for a while. I was not trying to trash the guy but I was trying to improve my own game by playing the best I could - so it wasn't about owning at all. And the skill differences in UT can many ties not be seen in scrores - a huge score difference does not necessarily imply a huge skill difference.
In all honesty getting spawn raped can never be fun - but there are ways to counter it.

The problem with not spawn raping in a FFA is that often, you will leave the guy alone then turn your back and next thing he's picked up a gun and he throws a rocket up your ass! Also, if someone spawns in front of me and starts pea-shooting me, then well...
Therefore, every time someone spawns in front of me, I ask a couple of questions;
Is he shooting me?
Will he kill me if I leave him be?
If the answers to any of those are yes, I make short work of him and be on my way.
That said however, a good player who spawns in a bad place can often get out of it. I think it was Karnaugh that said something like, "you spawn with two weapons, learn how to use them."

Basilisk and I *trashed* a bunch of people last night to the point where some of them (korpse) stopped bothering to fire.
Shit happens, we were both really on it. Yes I had a +23 net and he didn't even die once, but we were opposing a team of like twice as many people and they were not exactly noobs.
So tough break, win some you loose some. I wasn't happy that it was such a one sided map and *yes* I played like a complete dick on purpose because I was annoyed with all the flack spamming and crap in the previous game where I got raped to hell by korpse and Basilisk.
Raping happens. Everyone does it, but don't, for fucks saskes, tell me that I raped you if the first thing you did when you spawned was lob 100 grenades my way, because it's just as irritating to get grenaded in the face by someone that you left (or really just chased away with a few precicely missed shots).
Oh and another thing. Why do I get the feeling that there are a few players who seem to be bordering on practicaly 80% LG/SR acuracy? Is that even possible? Just my 2c

I'm not talking bout massive DM games where rockets are flying everywhere. Like 5 players in DM and ppl are going ape. Also u get raped 2 to 3 times by the same person in a row.... Guess what!? You a desperate spawn raping chump lookin for a easy frag so maybe... just maybe you might win and get the coverted "wp"
Maybe that's a way to increase my game scores.. get at least to 3-5 more frags a game praying on spawnies. Like grendlekeep. Get loaded up with some weapons and hang around the Rocket weapon.
But spawn raping is a part of unreal. I'll will always hate it but realize u can't do anyting bout it. But I can "winge" and call the spawn rapers chops. :D

If you play FFA and theres more than one opponent you will automaticly take out the easiest target before trying the more adept opponent. Simple reason is the longer you jump around trying to kill a person the more likely your chances of being shot in the back, in most cases by the very player you left to spawn.

Well I agree there are some people who seem to camp out spawn areas quite specificaly. The "BIG ROCKET LOLZ" types who load up and throw destruction the way of known spawn points. Thats pretty lame, but just go after them and teach them a lesson I say.

Nine times out of ten, I will hit you with two grenades before you get off one flak ball. Spawn fragging, and escaping the spawn frags, are both required UT skills, just like knowing how to shock combo while moving.

I know what it can do. Of late i use the grenades alot and probably get about 2 frags per match. But on a 1-on-1 "no suprise" attack, I'm willin to try those odds. Combine that with the respawn anywhere in a stage and having to orientate yourself and fight. I'm by far NOT the best in unreal but to say u can take a dude with you pulse rifle consistantly to rule/concel out spawn raping effect... OH come on.
My offer stands. I'd love to see it. The mere fact that there is a term "Spawn raping" leans to the fact that you get your ass handed to you on arrival. The term is not a imaginary effect. Every now and then u get lucky. mostly becasue the dude u fighting doesn't have full health and is trying to get a opportunistic kill. U launch a grenade and bamn he's dead. (please u even laugh when it happens cause u so suprised u got him)

Do you have any idea how many times (and just how much I enjoy it too) I've made these "LOLZ ROCKET LOADING FOR THE WIN" dorks suicide just by dodging into them with shield. I don't care even if I do die, it's just so hilarious. Seriously, flack spamming at people regardless of what weapon they have is just going to end in tears if you don't do it properly.

Last night was the funniest ever. I had a "certain person" trying to kill me with pulse rifle. ROFL!! Geez it was so funny. I really had a good time. I just wanna go ahead and say if anybody/everybody would like to also attack me with the pulse rifle please feel free to. LOL! I'm still smiling about it now :D
The really funny thing is this same person after trying all night and gettin about 1 kill every 10 encounters ( odds i like ) decides to try spawn rape me.. to which he gets a grenade in the face and died. I love it! The irony.

And so the Duel is on we have Sgt Pepper in the left corner weighing in with all weapons and in the right corner ready and prepaired The Basilisk weighing in with only the Sheild gun and Assult rifle.
Let the games begin.
Assault and Shield only match will not work. You will run out of grenades without any ammo pickups and even a guy with 10% aim, can just hang back and win the match taking pot shots from far away. The assault is too inaccurate at long distance, and without grenades, you are left with a melee weapon only.
The point is, the shield/assault combo are great at spawn and can keep you alive if used right, even among spawn rapers, but it is in no way weapons to use for the entire match.

But what will it prove? Just that you can't play an entire match with no assault rifle bullets, no grenades and only shield. It will in no way prove that it assist in rape prevention.

just kill anything that moves or stand still. I have learnt the hard way in UT. You can run past a stationery player and think, they must be afk, ill let them be. As you run past, u get shot in the @$$. You can leave players that have just spawned, moments later they launch a volley of rockets up ur rear. In UT, you have to eliminate as many threats and enemies as possible. We all get spawn raped, just learn to accept it.

I will always try maintain a level of play in which raping a player is not on my agenda. I agree totally that accidental raping happen, ppl do also shoot you in the ass if you sometimes leave them. But running after a freshly spawned player with you rocket gun loadin 3 rockets is cowardis and brings no honour to players that think they all that and a bag of chips.
In a game in which being the best is what everybody strives for, ppl achieve wins from preying on almost helpless(yes they have a sheild and grenades) opponents. I for one don't like it. If u soo good u don't need a few easy kills do you. There's winning and winning with integrity. The 2 are different. But maybe thats something that cannot be explained in a 2 page forum. At this stage in a mans life those values are already set. Everyman has his code. To each his own.
To me i find no sport in an easy kill. Even if i'm shot in the ass for it.

the nature of UT though is that every frag counts and (talking form a one on one perspective mostly as in that FFA shite no one can moan about anything, as it is ALL spam and raping) one can loose from being 10 points or more up. [I have seen it recently in a "pro" match]
in that FFA where you seem to be talkin about its just a mad frag fest and I hardly think people are *thinking* 'yummy spawnner I get to rape him' - it just happens.. a good player flying over the map and fragging everything that moves will come across as a "spawn raper" while that is never the idea - just multiple target aquisition and extermination within split seconds

mate, you have it wrong. It's not just ur job, but OBLIGATION to hunt down that freshly spawned player and kill him dead dead dead !!! It's in your best interest. Believe it. It might seem cowardly, but that player is on his way to a weapon and then on his way to u. And if he frags u, ur in the same boat he was just a minute ago making things VERY balanced.
If this still does not agree with you there's always tam. Where the playing field is absolutely level ;)
