7. CS Source (That was PAINFULL typing that)

LAN Info:
1. Cost R50.00 (Pay R80 and you can take part in all competitions)
2. Sleeping area will be provided for as before.
3. Start time will be from Friday 4th to Sunday the 6th August.
4. All competition entrys to Capetown Slam Down included in R 50 & R80.
5. All competition entrys to Carnage R80.
5. DC ++ Server will be running
6. Max ppl will be 180.

Hi Guys

The Admins of Cape Town Slam Down (Acid Burn, Pox, CrazyChic and Fieldy) have been chatting with regard to the upcoming LAN. We have come to the following conclusion:

1. We don?t have a LAN place as of yet.
2. Do not want to disappoint the people at the last minute of the above.
3. Have consulted with Fieldy to join him at his LAN and give it ago to see how it is. (We would like your guys opinion on this please)

Mat Fieldy is offering us the following:

1. Braai facilities.
2. Sleeping place.
3. Cape Town Slam Down's guys to be placed together.
4. Pox and Acid Burn to run the entire UT competition and it's responsibilities.
5. Cost will be R50.00 and prizes sponsored by CrazyChic.
6. If you would like to take part in any of the other competitions you would have to pay full submission fee R80.00

We need you guys please to do one of the following:

1. Register on Filedy's site and enter contest at www.carnage.co.za (http://www.carnage.co.za/)
2. or Give us the information required such as Date of birth, Name, Surnames etc so we can register you on the site. (Information can be PM'ed to either Pox or Myself)
3. As late entries from his side will be charged R100. (Arriving on the day)

I think this move will open us up to more than what has been as at Carnage there are designated Admins for each section of gaming, this in its self is a great plus and offers diversity for the weekend.

Please do realize as before it will be Pox and I that will be in control of the UT side of things that will not change in the least (If you guys are happy with this).

Please also note that at carnage the amount of ppl will be at a min 140 excluding us, it is said that the COD2 community about 40 ppl would be joining in as well so with totals combined we could be looking at a crowd of about 250 + . In my opinion this is going to be a mega LAN event that is for sure.

Your comment will be greatly appreciated.

Personally, I think that's AWESOME. We get all the good ol' fashioned homeliness of our Slam Down LAN, coupled with 100 other people to leech from. I've been very chuffed with the way Acid, Pox, CC an Fieldy have been handling the last two LANs, so to have that + the option of playing other games is a winner IMO. My vote's in.

And the Carnage venue's closer to me :D

Glad to see there is so much interest. This next LAN is gonna be absolute madness. There is already so much interest I think i am gonna have to order some more switches and tables. Recon we will pass the 200 gamers mark.

I have heard that Tygerburger are interested in doing a story about the event and will be sending a reporter on Saturday. Hopefully this will help us to attract some sponsors!

Yah, the signups are coming along nicely. I am prepared to take around 220. Hopefully not 250 like Acid said, as I am not sure if the power infrastructure will be sufficient. However we will make sure in the near future that we will be able to cater for much more, and reach Carnage's eventual goal of 400 Gamer LAN's :D

Who knocked 'em out of the tourney? Reason being, they were playing alone in the 2v2 server during the day when no one was on and I decided to join the server. They were on one team and, for a while, I was alone. Even though we were in warmup mode, it wasn't pretty. Educational though, but pretty it wasn't. Things weren't made easier when Akkedis joined my team after a bit ;)

Tourneys are weird things.. very weird.

Cyghost and Saint beat us. They played very well I have to say, on rankin.

But after that game we played Slayed and Fieldy friendly, and won well ahead on Ironic and Camp, although they beat Cyghost and Saint..

Map choice in tourneys is also very important, Darfnite didnt know Rankin very well, and I was playing like a confused school girl.

Hopefully this time we'll be more in synch, we were really just playing on the same map, had no communication etc.

GW & I have never played together before, so we were just running around like headless chickens, getting the odd frag here & there.

Cyghost at our last LAN we had 40 peeps there and we were about 4 terrabytes so that works out to 100 gig per person so lets do the calculation:

100 gig,s x 220 peeps = 22,000
therefore
22 terrabytes give or take would be a good estimate would it not.

Just to say I share about 160 gig so me thinks the avaridge would be higher than 100 gig's.

LATEST NEWS FROM CARNAGE:

I am so pleased to see so many signups, and interest in the LAN. It is going to be our biggest LAN yet, and will I am sure it will be the best LAN Carnage have organised to date, since each LAN is a dramatic improvement on the previous one.

We are Officially FULL!! We will only be able to help a few gamers that haven’t signed up, and they will be helped on a first come, first serve basis. After we are full, we will unfortunately not be able to accommodate non registrants, and they will have to make their way home. We apologise for this, and this will be an indication of just how important registering for the event will be in the future.

If you are desperate to LAN, we might have space available on Saturday afternoon after 4PM. We should be able to cater for +- 40 gamers. The price will be R50. Give me a call on 073 210 6050 on Saturday afternoon and I will be able to tell you for definite. Don’t come unannounced please!

Tournaments
On Friday night the DotA competition will start. Please note Registration is at 9PM and the competition will start shortly after 10PM If you are not there in time, you will not be allowed to play in the tournament! Please make sure you are on time! This will be the case for ALL future Carnage.LAN events.

All the other tournaments except for Trackmania Nations, will start on Saturday morning. Registration for Counter-Strike, Unreal Tournament 2004, Quake 3 Arena, Call of Duty 2 and Warcraft 3 will begin at 9AM! And the Tournaments will start Shortly after 10AM! Please make sure you are on time! We will be following a tight schedule to keep the tournament as smooth and problem free as possible. Maximum 20 minute grace period before a team/player is disqualified.

Please note that we WILL NOT be allowing entries for both Counter-Strike 1.6 & DoTA! As this is the main cause of hiccups in the schedule. U will be allowed to play either one of these team games and an individual game, ie. UT2k4, Quake 3, CoD2 or Warcraft 3.

With Regard to the Trackmania Nations competition, we will be running it on Saturday night, after the majority of Competitions are completed. Estimate +-9-10PM. It will be the player with the most wins over 20 maps. Map timelimit will be 8 minutes! And the winner takes the R200.

General Behavior
Please note that we do allow drinking in the hall, u will have to bring your own alcohol. You will be required to behave orderly, if not, you will see what happens to you. Please don’t make us make an example of you! PLEASE DO NOT SMOKE IN THE HALL!!! There are designated smoking areas just outside the main gaming area.

With regards to your personal items. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR VALUABLES UNATTENDED. Please use common sense when you go to sleep, try and sleep near your equipment, and put your mouse/keyboard/cellphone/External Harddrive in a bag and hide it somewhere on your desk. We would all love to believe that the world is a safe place, but it is not. Stuff gets stolen every day, and I would like all gamers to have the most enjoyable experience possible at Carnage.LAN. So please LOOK AFTER YOUR STUFF.

The lan officially opens at 5:00pm but people generally arrive at about 6-9:00pm so I guess we will start from about that time.

Well ive now bin playing online 4 officially 2 weeks, and i still think im a long way off :P
