GM 1 Vs 1 Tourney [Archive]

Guys.

GM Tourney 1 Vs 1 is set - we want the tourney to run on saturday the 29 July. You will need to be available for the entire day if you enter.

No entrance fees

3 X Prizes (random prizes - not 1st 2nd and 3rd prizes) - they will be USB sticks.
1 X Floating shield (to the Winner - who will hold the shield (his name and date engraved on it) until the next tourney.
1 X loads of FRAGS :)

I will post up a how it will be run later on in the weekend but if we can start listing the entrants in this forum - I need to know all entrants if possible by wednesday the 12 July - and we may run a qualify round next week saturday depending on the amount of entrants.

Round robin rules will be applied for this tourney

Also - can some of the admins pm me - for that saturday we will need the mod server to act as a duel server, and if possible one of the other servers. We would like to try and run four games simultaneously.

Then also - we have two people who can watch games through out the day - but i think we need 8 in total - any volenteers?

We will need at least one admin available for any hicups, kicking, setting correction, etc...

WCG rules state that if you diconnect in the first 5min of the game, the match is restarted but with the officials go ahead. If any disconnect is made after the 5min mark, the winner is taken from the standing results. Should a draw have been made after 5 min, the person with the heigher seeding progresses or is allocated the win.

na, I would love to, but I realy cannot commit certain times to UT. I play when i get a chance, it is hard to organise my life around a time though.

Lets just say I came 2nd to last (I would def have beaten ZYron) and be done with it :P

ok guys it's quite simple.

First off - the tourney is moved forward : Date of comp will be: 5 August 2006 Apologies for the move forward.

Check the attachment of what the Round Robin will look like. Now looking at the attachment - first off - Grey blocks are games that cannot take place. Because you cannot DUEL yourself for one, and others would be a repeat of a duel already taken place.

There are no ties in this Match. Win = +1 point. Loose = +0 point

Qualified section in the picture means "who is winning" so - in the example - i just posted the results randomly for 8 players - let naut be the winner and you can see he has a start next to him. During the tourney that star will represent if you are eligible to make it to 1st place.

In this example the tourney is also 28 games. If we had 4 servers - the tourney would "theoretically" take 2 1/2 Hours if everyone pitched on time.

Also - we would preset all games time on the GM Calendar, so you will have to register on our website to see the calendar and use the forums there for any further instructions. I will update you when the calendar is set.

Any questions so far? yes - I am using software to run the tourney - so there won't be calculational errors ;)

Also - there will be no qualifying rounds - as the round robin has already been worked out that everyone will play everyone. See attachment.

Also note that you may land up playing 2 matches in a row. Possibly three - though we will avoid this - I hope this is not a problem for any.

Rules:

1. Duel Server UT Comp Rules as per setup currently on the saix servers.
2. If you are 5 min late for a game. You forfeit that game. The other player wins. If both are late - both loose and get no points.
3. If the score is tie - overtime will be played until a winning score is achieved.
4. Should your PC freeze, reboot, etc, as long as your reason is fair the admin may allow rematches. Remember that rematches make all the preset times for matches out. We will in GM's forums note how many minutes to add to your given time - should this happen. Basically, try be available the whole day and contactable. That way if your game is up - you will be notified. To help with this - all can pm me their MSN Messenger contacts - so that we can make sure all admins have it for comms purposes.
Please note - that it could be a fair decision by the admin that a winner is selected. For example - if the score is 30 - 5. And there is 2 min left. Unless you can prove a miracle that you might have one - it is only fair to say the player with 30 would have won. So do think about that before requesting a rematch.
5. Should there be an interuption in the game. Player must immediately ask the Admin to pause. No communication to the admin - no pausing - no exceptions. Its a duel - 15min the world can wait for you - unless someone is dying, or you won the lotto (of which you must share with all of us)
6. Skill is in the player - if you loose because of your tools - Unfortunately - this aint cricket - rainy days don't help! Get better tools :)
7. Have fun.
8. Follow SGS rules of engagement.
9. Italy won the soccer.
10. Read from rule 1 before asking questions.
11. DJ is gonna win. So forfeit every game when playing against him.
12. Read rule 11 again.
13. Start Loop, If rule 13 = current rule to be read, goto 11. Loop

Have fun, and remember the prizes are random - I am not announcing how you will earn them until you have earned them and its the end of the tourney.

Shield will go to the Winner.

P.S. If the tourney ends with any tie points, those in tie (if it is two people) will duel for first place. If not, and there are three or more tie people, they will enter a new round robin mini tournament. I doubt though that this will happen - but that is what will happen should the scenario present itself.

The same will apply for all other positions where there might be a tie.

Gamos - I am exstending the cut off date till monday the 17 July.

If there are two many - we may consider running over two days (using the next saturday). I will calculate later on to work work out how long it will take.

No admins have gotten back to me about converting one or two other servers - this is crucial in saving us game time. the more Servers we can convert to Duel - the quicker paced the Tourney will be.

DJ, are you looking for a set number of people (16 as example) or should people continue to add their names till the 5th? I am asking, because round robin can become a 2 day affair with plenty people.

Well, i suppose we could convert the mod and ons server to duel. All the needs to be changed is the player limit, and the rules (no DD, weaponstay etc) much like the 2on2 tourney.

I can convert them and pass them, as long asI have some notice. We will have to leave sgs main, as SAIX may have a wobbly if we play with that one :)

Ye.... I had the same problem, but then I thought, "oh, what the heck."

I decided to have a braai, invite some friends over, have a mini LAN, then just leave the party every now and then for my ten minute games. But otherwise, ye, a whole Saturday would have been a bit much. ;)
