View Full Version : GM's 1 Vs 1 Ladder - Prize ideas?
Guys,
though the beta version of our site is still up - and I'm still finalising the final version of the website - on launch - I want to run a 1 Vs 1 Ladder.
The intention is to use GM's websites Calendar - and interface to organize it - and yes there will be a prize :)
So - still looking at a few weeks to finalise things for the finalised website - but I need start thinking what's a nice little prize to have for the top three winners.
My ideas have been so far:
1GB Flash stick, G15 Keyboard
Guys - though I am sponsoring the prizes personally, if anyone wants to donate to the cost of the prizes - PM me.
There will be no entry fee for this tourney - run by SGS Duel settings - Over and above rules will listed in the coming weeks <nothing to serious - just ladder climbing rules - and other small little things>
DJ, in my humble opinion, most hardcore gamers either have access to dealers pricing, or all the hardcore equipment they need. Make it a cash price and have prices for top 3 or top 5, heck even top8. Otherwise just hand the money to Ml or Naut.
This is something that has been nagging at me for many competitions in the past. What can a gamer do with a motherboard for instace? Heck, unless you plan to throw in the latest greatest just released (or soon to be released) GPU or CPU, don't bother with hardware.

I think the prize ideas are great! For instance, I would love a G15 KB, but what Gamos says is true. All of the guys in the running to win this thing probably own that kind of stuff anyways.

Does a Golf 5 Gti count as a nice little prize?
Money pool is difficult Gamos - hardware is easier for me to sponsor, as I own an IT company - so its easy to donate items like that to GM.
to some extent - not all the gamers have what they need - and maybe - Naut or Ml don't enter - this will give others an ideal reason to climb the ladder for those prizes.
I am open to other suggestions for prizes - but I really want the winners to walk away with something from this ladder? What about a GM Tourney 1 Vs 1 Ladder Cups - Gold ones - with the winners names engraved on them?

You don't need a money pool for a Gti, a money bath would do.

The Cup idea sounds great but I would think it should be a floating troughy so that the names will be put on there, and the winner gets a smaller cup with his name on it.

So how about a Duel Floating set of trophies:
1st Place: Gold Trophey
2nd Place: Silver Trophey
3rd Place: Bronze Trophey
You name + Nick gets engraved - and you get to keep the trophey for 3 Months - then we do another ladder?

Ok, all this is Cool! but You forget, Bloody hell, Im stuck with a 14inch Monitor, i Keybord that still has the "\" key on the right side of the shift!
A MX500 (Thanks HAJA!) but im sure i could do with a 1600Dpi mouse.
A AMD2000+ Overcloked to 2200+ and a GeforceFX5700 with 512 Ram.
My Case is a "Jerry Can!" now im a Pritty Desenty player and if theres a Comp im gona practise, since i Finish my Studies on Next Friday!
Those Trofies are Perfect ! im just saying. Hardware is never a bad Idea!
To be honnest i dont Mind Paying for a Ladder Match Comp if theres Prises worth more than the entrance Fee.
No offence Gamos, im just saying,,,.. what i just said!:o
Keybord that still has the "\" key on the right side of the shift!
Errrr...
Mine has that too.
I`m also starting to get hair in funny places and think about girls.

Well - I don't wanna put people off by saying you need to pay for this round. That's why I'm keen on sponsoring entry level hardware that's usefull to gamers.
Its either the trophey's or prizes - if you guys want both - I'll have to put up a entry fee.

Hey Peeps, DJ is away from his machine today so he asked me to post up tihs coooool idea he had last night. What we gonna do is give away one of those shield trophies, you know those ones that you put lots of little shield plaques on?
Anyways, he thought it was nice because you get shields in UT, and now you can win one in real life, and also it allows us to keep on playing the tourney over and over and just keep adding a new plaque each time. (It'll be a floating trophy of course.)
Finally, it is the most cost effective option all things considered. Therefore, one floating shield trophy up for grabs at the end of the tourney for the winner. If people want trophies for second place etc they must be willing to help sponsor.
Okay, DJ wanted me to say one more thing: The 1v1 tourney is going to run over one day. So, we'll choose like one Saturday somewhere and then play the whole thing fro mstart to finish.
So, that's all from me! GL and HF everyone!
Thanks Jaymac,
Cool - The shield I am getting is going to cost about R300 +/- - so if you guys would like a floarting trophy for 2nd and 3rd place - that's what I will need per shield. 1st place shield is on me :)
I've also decided that I will be sponsoring prizes for first to third place.
These will be the prizes:
1st place: Transcend® JetFlash™V20 USB 2.0 Compliant Flash Drive 512MB White & Orange - JetFlash Security Function, USB Boot Device Function
2nd place: Transcend® JetFlash™120 USB 2.0 Compliant Flash Drive 256MB ORANGE - JetFlash Security Function, USB Boot Device Function
3rd Place: Transcend® JetFlash™120 USB 2.0 Compliant Flash Drive 128MB AMBER - JetFlash Security Function, USB Boot Device Function
I will upates dates etc... soon.
