i just thought i'd rant a bit here.

i just bought a new place (quite a mission), now moving, also a mission, but do-able. painting, arranging movers... etc, all quite a mission, but the one MASSIVE FUCKEN mission would be....

telkom.

they told me (after i submited a request 2 months ago) that it will take them 6-8 weeks to disconnect my current service... OMG, i will take a side cutter, and do it myself then. then another 6-8 weeks to get me a new line a whopping 3km away from where i move from (in fact 3 km closer to the exchange)

so i-burst here we come, and no more online ut for me for a while.:(

why didn't you just apply for a line move and a service suspension? Last time I moved telkom took 3 days.

(was the same for me last year, took them only 6 days) but this time, evertime u call them, their system is down and that they have a backlog and industrial action. so i tell them, call me back when its up, so they say "no".
so how do i know when their system will be up?

it is unfortunately a bunch of palookas on the other side! Had the same response when I moved, all I done was phoned everyday and within a few days my line was installed and working! And trust me u have to bug them endlessly

When I was installing my adsl line at the previous place I lived, my lease ran out before they finally got around to installing my line, and yes I was calling them at least once a day.

Took them forever to install my line here when I moved.

I reckon you wait for the SNO...

http://www.snotelecom.co.za/ says they're launching consumer products in the 4th quarter of this year. Woot! I'm going to move from Telkom even if it costs more!

I applied for my line, on a thursday, i was at my mates house on the friday when he as getting his line installed, i payed the technician R100 and got mine installed just after his... that seemed to work for me.

well, after a very intense e-mail, and follow up phone call, i got the shit sorted, i should b back online within 2 weeks, so its not that bad.
