Hey all...
Well - GM has had slight hicup with its old website - it went down. Long story - but we had to organize a new one.
Since we've been wanting something new, we've had a few different looks at putting up a new website - but we wanted to bring something that's usefull to all gamers. So what I did is got a hold of a "dating site" system - which we are busy converting into a system for gamers. So far pretty good.
This is why I did so, as now we can provide:
A chat service to communicate with others live
Messaging system to send/recieve emails
Calander to organize events or clannies.
Profile system to allow you to view profiles of other gamers
Buddy system to keep a tab on your favourite buddies
Hot List to keep track of gamers that impress you or play the same game types
Search engine to search for gamers of your type (still being fixed - its got the dating search still)
Forum to discuss whatever you have on mind (still being correctly setup)
News/Articles/Stories
Featured profiles of good gamers - or gamers increasing potential
Rating system (rate a gamer to how good you think he/she is)
Free use of the entire system (Silver level Membership)
Gold membership - makes you a club member of GM and eligible to participate in MSSA recognised competitions
And much more
Guys - the sites look and feel is still being worked on and we are slowly changin the "dating elements" of the site to "gaming elements". So we know it says stuff like "i am a man looking for a women..." - which will be changed to I am a gamer, looking for a FPS player... etc etc...
but please log on and register - try it out - and message me some comments. I would appreciate it very much.

Beacuse i think pplz are going to be a bit sceptical on joining a brand new site & being forced to pay to be able to take part in a compo & then still having to pay for the compo itself or am i wrong in saying this?

lol, its quite funny seeing some of the UT players with "I am a man looking for a woman". Just make sure you change that quickly. Seeing that some of your registered members are already married ;p

you would pay for Gold - but not for silver - but the only difference between silver and gold is if you are interested in earning Provincial SA colours/International SA colours. Otherwise you need not pay for the extra functionality.
Therefor - you would only pay for a compo - if the compo has a entry fee, or if its a function like purple haze where he has to at least cover venue cost. To be registered is otherwise free - no need to pay twice. And in fact - if the lan is free - then being on the site is free as well joining the LAN. And that's not the limitation to the the new GM site.

The web experts will be looking at changing that issue by end of next week - so hopefully you guys don't get to irritated by it.

Yeah, DJ has been doing a great job on the new site and it looks like its gonna pay off.
Should be the perfect platform to lanch the MSSA colours comps. I'd pay the annual fee if I got the gold membership, MSSA membership and the national colours comps all in one deal.

that's right - We are turning the communications system of the dating website into a Gaming contact site. Forums, chats, contacting etc... slowly I am removing the dating elements... A community of gamers rather than daters!

Okay peeps. DJ just showed off the Flash chat on the new site to me! Cool.
You have to click the chat button on the right hand side, then you go into a whole page flash app that works just like MSN! Might be kinda cool if you wanna hav a live chat but don't have everyone's MSN.
Just thought I should let you all know. :)

Dude - its not about "dating at all"
the DAting template has some amazing tools which make the site useful. Like:
Chat, Instant messenging, Calendar for viewing booking events, Profile view - once I have changed it - you will be able to see more about your fellow gamer, email system, buddy list - add more mates or clans there, Hot List - left that in as its cool if you wanna have quick links to a good players profile. and Forum.
Also - it has a easy to add news section, article section and story section (which I thought could be used for contrsuctive junk)
So - remove the dating website elements - convert some of them into neautral tools - and yo uhave a community website - that can do a lot more - than just chat in a forum.
Hope that answers your question.
Really - once the Dating element is complete removed - its gonna be a fab site.
Purple had another type of site that looked fabulous as well - but they all need work to bring forward the tools we these kind of sites to have.

you could aim your lg at them for practice.
doesn't have to be a headshot - an avatar of any kind. No admins on this site are gonna say dude, that pic hey - its showing to much waist on your RL - better resubmitted something less offensive.
lol - so throw any pic you like - even if you wanna put mug on there - its cool. Also - everyone will have access to put up their own pic gallaries - so that should also be exciting!

looking for a man... women...etc is gone... and its all out of the profiles... and the search terms.
will fine tune as we go ahead.

That's funny in so many ways.
fixed test profile - now has silver access.
Right - website has now been updated further.
I've removed - I think 99% of the dating stuff! If you find something there that's dating like - let me know and I will take it out.
Firstly - the reason why GM site has needed to be updated like this - is mainly - for GM to properly handle the tournaments that we will be launching in the near future. Especially those that count for colours.
So - here's what's cool about the GM site:
Banned list - ignore those you don't like
Clan List - keep a tab on your Clan members
Calendar - to oraganise LAN events and keep a tab on other events
Flash CHAT system - try it out - I promise its cool :)
Watching Events - keep a tab on calendar favourite items
Flash Forum - You have to try this forum - its graphical and funky :)
Friends list - those who aren't clan members ;) add them here
Picture Management - post up gallaries of your choice for other to see
Poll - suggest a poll ;) and we all vote :)
Search function - find the players you wanna challenge (Extended search still being fixed though)
Challenge - found someone you wanna kick ass - you can send them a challenge
Message system - for those of you who wanna message within the site
User profile - so you can know your fellow gamers more.
So - give it a try and let me know.
Bugs on the site I am still working on is the extended search - and the article postings. And also fixing up the flash header ;)
Look forward to some feed back :)
