Hi there guys,
I please need to pick your brains!
Question is if I have an American Television and a South African Play Station how can I make the two interact properly?
Your feedback will be very appreciated.
If your american TV can support PAL, then go ahead and play.
Most TV's can multi-sync.
If that does'nt work. I think there is some chip/cable thing running around to allow that.
As far as what ive learned, we in south africa uses the PAL-I standard, which is 25FPS, and the americans uses NTSC standard which runs at 30FPS, but most tvs nowadays support most if not all formats and standards. Our TV supports both and its a month old. So if u get a new tv that side (which i assume ur gonna do anywayz) then u wont have a problem.
Why are u moving to the USA Crazychick? :( *sniff*

Thanks guys
I am not moving
Had a customer in this morning asking about it.
tv is american - am not able to tell u how old. so in theory everything should just hook up and work.
In the case that unable to determine if the tv has all formats, if the playstation is connected to the tv will there be any possibility of damageing either ps or tv?
if you throw it out the window when it doesn't work, then yeah, it can damage ;)
If it cant work, it just wont work. Dont force things in either

You have 3 options:
Should you get the playstation "chipped" (approx R800) you can play on an NTSC formatted tv with an SA PS2. Additional benefits include games being priced at roughly R80 a shot.
Secondly you have the option of the PAL NTSC convertor which can be bought at most flea markets or from Sony themselves.
Or, purchase a south african television.
