When you play on servers and do not have certain maps or supporting files, UT2004 will automatically download them for you. The cache is a fixed size, and is cleared after 30 days by default.

If however you have installed your UTComps manually then I don't know what's going on there.:confused:

How are you supposed to know what version is installed? I can only have one version of utcomp 1.6 installed, and I have the latest version installed.

Shit dude, I knew some people were stupid, but I didn't know there was much confusion between 42::KA and 42::Karnaugh. I'm was pretty sure its easy to make the connection, but for the benefit of Gizzlo I'll make sure people know.

ok Gizzlo;

1+1=2
2+2=4

42::KA == 42::Karnaugh

42::KH == 42::Karnaugh

Incase you didn't notice, most 42 players are using this. (42::SC, 42::BA etc)

Just a note on the main subject of the thread.

I often join and then for some reason UTComp starts downloading, even if I have the same version installed as on the server. Then, just as the dam thing is about to finish, another map loads and the whole freeken download starts at 0% again!

I don't know if this is a problem with UTComp or UT's caching system, but it really irritates the crap out of me.
