seeing that we all have different operating systems, different mice, different drivers etc... I was wondering... If you guys could do a test and check how many centimeters it takes you to move your mice either left or right to complete a 360 in UT.
Im just curious as I dont want my mouse sensitivity to be too low. I think It has always been a little on the high side. BUT I am looking at changing it and doing a few experiments.
Thanks ;)
Syz, you are the only person I know of besides me to messure sens this way! Everyone will just say Sens = 4. That means absolutely jack to me and differs from mouse to mouse.
I move about 7 cm to make a 180 turn and I asked Haj 2 nights ago, and he moves about 16cm for a 180 turn. I just can't fight close range with that low sense, since I play with my wrist only and not my arm.
All I do is review my play and adjust as necessary. As you become more familiar with the game your movement gets more fluid and sometimes your old sensitivity settings won't cut it anymore (or so it is for me). For interest sake my sensitivity setting has actually gotten progressively lower.
A 360 turn takes about 14cm from worth of movement from left to right along the mouse pad for me.

many many thanks for the replies ;)
no wonder Haja isnt doing too badly with his aim ;p
Thanks Igloo, I have also been gradually lowering my mouse sensitivity as well. The other eve, I was trying to do some moving shock combos offline... I sucked quite badly at it. I lowered my mouse sensitivity quite dramatically and I definately noticed a big improvement on my moving shock combo hit rate.
Anyways, thanks alot ;) I need to get home and try a few settings out.
have a gewd w/end!

geeez, just been checking now... 18cm for a 180? Your arm must get quite a work during a duel ;p
I just checked, I need to move my mouse around 7cm for a 180... and thats after drastically reducing my sensitivity from last night. I dunno how you guys do it ;p
Ill give it a try tho...

madness ;p
Look Syzygy - You cannot compare your mouse sens to others really- best advise I can give is to do the following:
Lets say your mouse sens is 4 and you have a mx510 like me(my sens is 1.95).. now all you do is after every game - put your mouse sens down with 0.05... down all the way - it might feel uncomforable at first, keep at it, and keep at ti until you feel you get a lekker mouse sens and a good hitscan.. PS another piece of advise, get a big mousepad - like the xtremepad I have.. Helps alot so you dont have to lift your mouse all the time..
15 cm for a 360
That's quite strange. I have an MX510 as well and I already said I need about 14cm worth of movement to do a 360 degree turn and my in game mouse sensitivity is 0.85, yours is 1.95 and we have comparable results.

must be the windows setting, or the one in the mouseware that differs, surely?

7cm for 360 :D
Don't you okes run out of table?

As far as I know Windows settings don't affect in game settings at all.
Cripple-X: Naut once said a low sensitivity is better because it gives you more precision and he is right if you think about it. It's easier to differentiate between 3cm worth of movement than it is 1cm.
You don't have to be as drastic as some people, but you'll be surprised how much it helps.

hmm, i know the nes in the control panel for the razer mouse make a difference in game (or at least i think it does, never really tested it). S maybe the 3rd party drivers the logitech uses makes a difference?
That is exactly why I HATE logitech and razer drivers. You have a) Windows settings, b) Drivers settings and c) UT settings, all 3 contributing to an utterly confusing conversation when you tell someone your mouse sense is 1.5. That is why I also use the "how far do you slide your mouse" way of telling sens.
The problem with a very low sens is that you absolutely suck if someone gets in your face, and are generally much slower at it since you have to pick up your mouse several times to do a decent circle strafe for instance.
With high sense however, your aim usually suffers.
It is a delicate trade between aim and close fighting that you need to work out. Also, using the mouse with your wrist only, it will actually be considered low sense to make a 180 turn in 10 cm, where that might be high sense for those using their whole arm to use the mouse.

well i have my windows settings to default. i have my mouse set to 1.0 in the ini and 1.75 in game and i get 18 cm on 180, logitec mx510 with default windows drivers, not the one that came with the mouse, that cd is still in the box :).
when i have someone in my face and need to turn i do it while i dodge to a side, it works for me.
can anyone tell me how the ut mouse execleration works, cause i don't think it's working on my machine.

does everyone have mouse lag and mouse smoothing on 0?
Windows settings do make a differance, set windows hardware accel to max and enable it to work in application/games, cant remember what exactly its called and turn of all in game accel and smoothnes cuz its crap. This should give you smooth movement when slowly moving the mouse for headshots and very fast accel if you do a flick.
Lowering my default Y and X axxes to 0.5 also helped me a lot but thats more personal preferance. I just find its faster when looking up and down.
Best and simplest thing I find is not to bother with Logitech Setpoint drivers and then simply use the default windows drivers. Then once ingame you'll see that ure sensitivity should sit anywhere between 2.2 - 3, depending on your preference.
Thats what I do, no mess no fuss.

Yeah Gloo :( I know, I've been trying to switch for a long time now, but I just keep getting frustrated being beaten by all the okes I know I shouldn't. :( Shucks! Guess I should just grin and bear it.
