does anyone know of a utility i can use to monitor network traffic?
if possible it should be able to tell you wich app is using what.

reason i ask is, i have this weird lag every now and then. i scanned for malware spyware and all that crap but found nothing. i just wanna be sure that it's not on my pc. maybe my line is dodgey or something, it's beyond me.

any tips would help to
thx

This is something I have been wanting to mention, it would be really useful to have a "software" related subforum. Numerous time I have been looking for the appropriate section and then gone and placed my thread in the general section.

Shrimp ? Is this possible ?

Programmers as in pedantic, anal retentive.

anyway getting back to the thread. I've seen, but not used, a firewall called kerio which seemed to graph traffic throughput according to whatever rule was letting it through - ie port or app - giving a very neat overview of where your bandwidth is going. Also i have used a very nice app called packetyzer by network chemistry which snags all info on every packet of data that hits your NIC. probably overkill but fun to try and might also help.

both are shareware far as i know

Say now guys one wants to limit a port to a certain limit.

Would like to add an internet access point to our guest cottage but would not like our visitors to use our entire cap. From our adsl setup a cable all the way to the cottage ending in a face plate. Ive downloaded Bandwidth Manager by SoftPerfect but perhaps anyone knows of anything else out there that might be better.

Thanks,

Peon.
