I'm just busy trying to set up clan and other private forums, and was wondering what you would prefer as a way of limiting access to these forums.
We have two options available. Password restrictions, and usergroup restrictions.
Usergroups would work the same as they would on the old forum. If you're part of the "Avatars" group, you can automatically have access to the private Avatars forum, but everyone who's not, cant (we could set it to be hidden completely from non-group members). The problem with this, on this forum, is that you can't manage your own usergroups. An administrator needs to authorise all group applications. That'll mean you'll have to get new members to request membership, and then just send me a PM letting me know if it's ok to allow that user to join.
The second option is password protection. To access a private forum, you'll just be asked for a password. So you can just give that to new members and they will be able to access instantly. The down side is that you'll have to enter this every time you want to view your forum, and it's possible to end up with someone possibly finding out your password.
