AMD vs Intel vs BWM vs Merc

I was just wondering to myself on the way to work this morning (boring drive) whether most AMD users drive BMW or Merc and the same for Intel.

Ok, i was going to make a poll with every single car in the world, but I got to Lada and was on option number 341 allready, so decided to narrow it down to these 2.

And the rerason I took these two is because, like the AMD vs Intel wars, ppl also argue about which one of these cars is better (merc is obviously). So that was the brain fart behind this poll.

I'm in a bit of a fix to answer the poll.

I had a merc when I had an Intel. Now I have an Intel, an AMD and a Volkswagen! (Oh, and I had a BMW bike at the same time).

I know lots of people in Helix have Volkswagens! (I think that's why I got in.....)

I reckon we should rather "poll" German Autos vs. Paper Tiger (Oriental, Japanese, korean, Burmese (LOL) etc.) Cars?

CAMPER for a PC has anything the TA guys give him as leftover hardware, so he's got an AMD. He drives merc cause he has to. he's dad's company is stuck in a contract to use crappy mercs. And the ambulance he drives is a merc. but any oppurtunity he has to drive his hyundai accent he takes it. he'd most probably would even enjoy driving the merc if they only centered the steering wheel to the drivers seat.

I used to have an Audi, 1 day when I can I'll get another 1, unitl then it's gonna have to be Toyota or Hyundai.

Hmmm, I may be wrong but I don't think Mercedes have turbos in their cars, a single supercharger yes.

The car you really want is the new Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG. That car is simply amazing :P . When I can afford it I sure as hell will buy it :) .

Actually your right, i thought it had turbos, merc uses a type of turbo called a kompressor, turbo uses exhaust fumes and kompressor uses something in the engine, or is it the other way round. either way the E55 AMG is one fast car. i had a good go at a 1100 superbike up until bout 200. had a really nice sales lady that told me that there were no cameras on that road and that i must test the car...but after bout 200 i got a little scared that i would be placed in pollsmor for a while

SL65 and M3 might be almost as fast cars, but they not saloon, u cant take your family out for supper in and SL, E55 AMG however has space for the whole family and a boot! although the SL would be my choice of sports car. people up the road from me have the SL55 AMG.

Karnaugh, an expensive car is one of the best and only legal ways of paying less tax. Until the legislation stops allowing that benefit, it makes very sound commercial sense to make Trevor pay for your ride :D

ok lets talk bout our cars...u think u got it bad Gamos, i drive a 1981 peugeot 305. still a good car tho 130 000 on the clock and still the origional 1.5L 75kw engine.
although on tues someone broke in and stole my frontloader and 6x9s. other than that the car is good all round, if i had the choice though i would only go Audi, VW or merc, in that order. preferably a Audi A3 3.2 quatro, BMW doesnt even cut it, except for the 6, M3 and 7, i think there cars look dak.

Karnaugh, you need not be in a high income bracket to access this tax benefit. Simply explained it works like this: your employer gives you a car allowance of say, R5000 per month. R2500 per month of this allowance is not taxed, the other R2500 is provisionally taxed at a lower rate and you claim back at the end of the financial year depending on the mileage you did etc.

The net effect is that, instead of for example clearing R11000,00 per month after tax without a car, you'll now clear about R9000,00 per month and drive a car that costs R4000 per month. In addition you'll get a rebate at the end of the year of between R6000 and R8000.

My opinion is: cars are a massively overpriced waste of money. Get something sensible with (relatively) good value (go Korean for best value) and then buy a decent superbike for the weekends. You'll save a fortune and outrun anything on the road if you feel like it.

...or rather buy a house, it'll go up in price unlike a car which drops about 30% the second you buy it.

Man, logic does not even enter into the equation. I drove a SL600 recently and its better than sex as far as im concerned. Its the most exilerating experians I ever had if you ever have the means I highly recommend taking one for a spin.

No the Bugatti has a 16 cylinder engine in a W config. Think of 4 2-litre engines, each with their own turbo sitting as 2 V8's kinda joined in the middle. Pity they've had so many problems with it. Should have gone into production about 2 years ago but it has a few quirks at high speed. And when I say high speed, I mean really high. The first "production ready" version of the car hit 430km/h. That's kinda fast. The problem is at those speed it tends to do fun things like drift off roads and into walls. Last year Bugatti wanted to show off the cars acceleration (0 to 300km/h in about 12 seconds) down the back straight at Indianapolis. Car shot off like a rocket, got to first corner and slammed the wall.

Cost about nothing, weighed less, four wheel drive, 6 gears, a honda CBR600 engine with turbo stuck in the front. You could get the speedo to wrap all the way around to zero again if you pushed it (9500rpm rev limit) and as a bonus was really light on fuel (except for when you wrap the speedo around to zero again of course)
