Overall, Pariah is a lot more story-oriented than your typical shooter, with a steady sequence of cutscenes of varying length. Faces are quite detailed and pretty expressive, and the voice acting consistently above-par. The sound in general is great, particularly the music, which mostly consists of tense orchestral pieces. You can tell that Pariah is supposed to have a movie-like appeal, with a dramatic setup leading into a sequence of reasonable situations with clear goals. And the presentation is a heck of a lot better than Unreal II, for those of you who are worried about that

There was a glitch with our 6800GT system; the fix was nearly painless, but some instability remains in this build. The X800 system had no issues, and the game runs like a dream at high res with everything cranked up

Now this is what I like to hear!!! a new game, and my PC will own it :D

More or less when can we expect Pariah? Would it be May 2005? I think I saw that somewhere.

Yeah, I read somewhere that May was the date, but in the gaming industry nothing is ever certain.

The last paragraph of the preview sits somewhat uneasy with me. To quote:

With a cool weapons system, complex environments, lots of character and style, Pariah (http://pc.ign.com/objects/665/665243.html) looks like it's going to be a pretty fun and involving game that puts the Digital Extremes stamp on single-player shooters in a way that Unreal II couldn't quite do. I don't know if it will blow you away, but you'll have to make an effort to not have some fun.

I don't know if it will blow you away? What is that supposed to mean, a 70-percenter?
I mean, Arcade Tetris is some fun too!

I am optimistic but cautious.
