As promised, my first impressions:

The screen is absolutely beautiful. With the digital connection the picture is absolutely flawless and with the 800:1 contrast ratio it's as sharp and clear as anything I've seen.

The Games:

UT2004 looks great. The textures and character detail is exquisite. I did notice significant ghosting when things start going hectic.

CS:S and HL2

Looks great and less ghosting than on UT2004. Probably just a much slower paced game.

Doom 3:

I prefer the way it looks on my CRT. although the colours are very intense and the bump mapping really comes into its own, the fact that the game is so dark seems to be problematic. I must admit I did not test it on Doom 3 for more than 2 minutes.

Dawn of War

Absolutely STUNNING!

DVD's

Absolutely STUNNING!

Conclusion:

It's a beautiful screen of extremely good quality, but it will take me a while to get used to how fast-paced FPS games look on it. That said, my game performance in UT2004 was great and my accuracy was slightly better. Colour definition and picture sharpness is far superior to CRT on all applications.

Besides, I'd rather carry this 7kg jobbie to a LAN than the 38kg CRT!!!!!

I was too tired after playing to take pics and my den was a horrible mess anyway.

I'll post a picture of the screen tonight. After tidying up, of course, so it may not happen.

The technology in the 2001FP is 4 years old. They have been replaced by the 2005FP, which you cannot get here yet.

Mac, I happen to know that you are at an impressionable age and have therefore opted for the flowers.

Savage, pray tell, what is wrong with my keyboard and mouse?

what refresh rate does your screen support @ 1280*1024 cat? And how important is the refresh rate on lcd anyway, if anybody knows, cos i cant see or feel the difference when I change it..? And what happens if you put the refresh rate higher than what the screen supports in that resolution (if you untick the option "only show supported modes by this monitor"). I did that and pushed it higher and everything works great, but will it have negative long term effects?

um, I don;t think there is a refresh rate on lcd, but response trime instead? for eg, 8m.s-1 etc

hhm why is it then even possible to change settings there? Then again, I didnt see a difference putting the refresh rate higher. Ta.

Mine supports 75hz at 1280 X 1024 resolution.

It's not very important though, since the picture on an LCD monitor is not interlaced like on a CRT. At least that the reason that was given to me. mmmmm wish I understood what it meant.
