Due to a mix-up on my part Red couldn't field a full team and subsequently lost Icarus to Blue.

Red falls back as follows:

1) Bean, Sneaky, TheProven and Boogeyman go to Arctic Stronghold.

For the attacks:

1) Flux, Gizzlo, Dfens and Gamos attack Crossfire.

2) Mako, Noman and Lord_Xan attack Ascendancy.

My apologies if the playing schedule is a bit tight for this ladder. It's a difficult balance to strike - too close and people can't make it; too far apart and people lose interest. Player availability is also a much larger issue than I expected, but that can be blamed on the increased complexity of this ladder. Things haven't quite worked out as I imagined, so I'll probably propose something simpler for future ladders (if there are any).

Thanks again to those playing and helping me set everything up. :)

I quit, have fun.

Sorry but constantly being at a disadvantage with 2 players down is NOT my idea of fun.

i agree with flux

to much rules and realism not enough fair fighting
...where's the honor in that....

u may have my ons gloves to...

i sighned up for fun...

i don't even know if the rules are still valid...
the map idea was nice and would have been a great war
for the universe, but plain and simple worked for me
i the first ladder...this one became gay somehow...

well for me anyway

thx for all your hard work xan....

Look if this can be resolved in some way then Im still here to play, but untill then. soz.

there is no problem with the ladder itself. this issue is player related, and even IF we stuck to the 1st ladders style; if nobody bothered pitching up ppl would still be moaning about it. our game tonight was still ok, the next one xan & nevets were the only 2 ppl who pitched out of 6. if plauers did not want to play in the 1st place, then they shouldnt have bothered signing up. this problem did not start "now only" it was there from the start.

the only way this can be resolved if the respective teams make some effort to communicate with their other team mates. reading the forum here isnt even done, so i dont know how any further communication will be done.

bleh.

It's highly unlikely that it'll be resolved.

Sorry you guys aren't having fun. Unfortunately people don't show up and there isn't anything I can do about it. As I said earlier, the ladder isn't turning out the way I wanted it to. The community is just too small to support something like this - we're better off playing fixed matches.

Thanks for trying at least. :)

it' not the players....

it's the the way the rules gets modified everytime someone whines about something that's unfair,

In the first half of the ladder blue was losing all the time, then they changed the rules to "suit everyone",
then blue started turning the game and ppl felt robbed of the fun...

these team movements can atleast be done, so that we have a battle, not a stuff around of three vs six players
...it's gay to win like that...
how can u feel proud of winning if it's unfair from the start if all the ppl don't pitch u can reschedule the match..
why is there a problem...don't tell me it's because it will dragout the ladder...in the first ladder the reschedule rule worked well for forfitt win when u fail to pitch ur team a second time...

the team with the least amount of players should get the choice to reschedule and if a match has started, whoever pitches then, will just have to spectate...unless he will be balancing the teams..

i know i whine like a slut when i get killed alot, but that's just me
it doesn't mean i don't have the balls to face a fair fight.

lets face it savage we almost got our asses handed to us by three guys and we had four ppl playing... if it wern't for slayed pitching when he did we would have lost...

i don't like a win like that..it indicates me as weak...if u like playing like that it's your perogative. I like to think of myself as someone that's having a blast with some online buddy's...kicking a guy when he's down don't prove nothing to me...

Problems:

1) Too many very-unreliable people in this ladder.
2) Bots

Im sorry to say but I do SHITLOADS of work over the weekend, and if I can spare time to play a game over an hour or two (while I have other stuff I need to do) and still get my shit done, I dont see why so many people do not pitch for the matches.

At this point I think it'll be best if we stop the ladder. Cutting out all the inactive people will leave us with too few people to play under the current setup.

I'll post a final points update later tonight, for what it's worth.

I'm sorry if i sound like a "pissie" but the few of us that love this game enough to support it in all of it's aspects are growing smaller and smaller

how about we play onslaught every night at say 9till we drop dead, instead of that gay team arena mod...it was a great mod in the begining, and it was fun while it lasted

it felt so good getting spawn raped again, on the kala server, as annoying as it was i still had a blast.
why don't we have a mini ladder to measure our skills then be placed in balanced teams and just kill each other for the sake of fun... or just kill each other for the sake of fun and screw the mini ladder for balanced teams...

with some of the dm kills i get, i'm sure cat would love to shove some tank shells up my ass

Sorry about this gents, but I have been on leave for a couple of weeks. Apparently Sam (my opposite colour partner) hasn't pitched for matches either, so it would throw things anyway if I continue to play.

I have to wonder if UT isn't to close to EOL to try and keep a complicated system like this alive.

Anyway, just my apologies and 2c.

People not pitching is certainly a problem but I think this has more to do with the mechanics of the ladder rather than missing peeps.

It sounded great and I'm certainly glad we gave it a go, but in practice it just doesn't seem to work too well. People get split up all over the different maps as battles happen and then you end up playing unbalanced teams which is just generally frustrating. There have been very few (if any?) battles with the same numbers on either end.

I empathise with Flux on this - the first ladder was much more fun - even when you lost at least you felt you had a good chance at winning since the numbers were even. It's possible to pull off a win when you're a person down (as evidenced in last nights match) but generally uneven teams are just not fun

I'm sure Xan and Nevets have been having great fun moving us pawns all over the place though :) -- full contact chess!

As for this ladder - thanks everyone for thier participation. Although it didn't work out at a global level I'm sure there were many fun battles/kills/deaths on a micro level. And it was all worth it to see Gamos valiantly try to defend the base -- all by himself :p

I vote we go smaller, simpler for the next ONS ladder. 3 or 4 people per team, a pre-set range of maps - and we don't even have to keep score - just play for the fun of it :) - just as long as the teams are even (Oh and before I forget - we'll also need to take aways Cats tank keys, and disable Xans hooter...)

My 2 c

If you look at RISK [ very similar to what we playing here ] they way to win is by over powering the enemy with numbers. Yes i agree 5 vs 3 is not the best setup. but hell did they fight like demons !!!! well played guys.

people not rocking up is going to be a constant problem, we need to have reserves or something. we must look at what we did't like from this ladder and use it to fix the next.

easy sneaky 3 vs 5 man.......that just not right for the peep's that do show up for the ons
ladder
how would you feel if you had to fight 5 guys for one map?
so xan is taking the fookers that does not show for the ons out to make it more even.
